Houston Texans Look To Upgrade Pass Rush In 2011 NFL Mock Draft

Kiper: J.J.  Watt, DE, Wisconsin

McShay: Robert Quinn, DE, UNC

Banks: Robert Quinn, DE, UNC

Kirwan: Ryan Kerrigan, DE/OLB, Purdue

Rang: Robert Quinn, DE, UNC

My take: Von Miller, OLB,  Texas A&M

By now, everyone knows that the Houston Texans had the NFL's most worst pass defense.

But with both Patrick Peterson and Prince Amukamara off the board--and the fact that they have two young corners that showed good development in 2010--the Texans will have to get better against the pass by amping up their rush.

Furthermore, as Kirwan noted: "The Texans need an outside linebacker in their new 3-4 defense to create more pressure in order to help the secondary. They will get a solid cornerback in the next round."

Quinn, Watt, and Kerrigan are fine rushers, and would be outstanding picks....if the 2010 Butkus Award winner didn't surprisingly fall out of the top 10.

In Wade Phillips 3-4 scheme he'll fit perfectly as a pass rushing specialist on the other side of Mario Williams.

None of the first 10 teams really want to pass on Miller, and he doesn't seem to have any true weaknesses, but somehow he'll get lot in the shuffle. That's great news for the Texans.
