Tommie Harris Suspended

Max KienzlerAnalyst IOctober 2, 2008

Bears Pro Bowl Defensive Tackle Tommie Harris has been suspended for this week's game against the Detroit Lions.  According to Chicagobears.com, the suspension is for an "unspecified reason" but the NFL website states he violated team rules.

After playing the first three games, Harris sat out the Sunday night game against the Eagles with a knee injury.  Before the suspension was issued, many thought he would be back for week five, healthy enough to play.

This doesn't seem right.  Throughout his career with the Bears, Harris has been regarded as a good, stand up guy.  There have been no off the field issues, no showing up anyone and he has not come across like a cocky SOB, as so many other NFL players have.

It will be interesting to see what develops and what the reason was behind the suspension as more information comes out in the next few days.  Hopefully it is nothing more serious than being late for team meetings.  But if that is the only reason, you would think that they would just say that . . . right?
