The quarter pole is the traditional time for rational assessment of all of our preseason hype. Some sleeper picks have been looking great, while several seemingly dependable players have stumbled out of the gate. The season is always longer than you think. A lot can still happen to change a player’s fortunes.

DE Derrick Harvey: OK, the kid is starting to show us something. In the preseason, I predicted his long holdout could set him back a full year. Proving me wrong, Harvey has now won the starting job in Jacksonville. And guess who’s the guest of honor for Harvey’s coming out party? The banged up and brutalized Pittsburgh Steelers. This is the week the average NFL fan gets to know Derrick Harvey.
