It has been an interesting week so far in the world of wrestling, and things are only going to become more buzzworthy as we get closer we get to WrestleMania next Sunday.
So without further adieu, here are the hot topics in the world of the WWE and TNA.
SATURDAY will actually mark the 10-year anniversary of the final episode of WCW Monday Nitro (with 3/23 actually marking a decade later of the sale of the company to the WWE), and many fans are surprised that there was no mention of the end of the Monday Night Wars on Raw this past Monday, nor any headlines on WWE.com.
Hate to bring it to ya WCW faithfuls, but with the spotlight solely on WrestleMania and the buildup to the multi high-caliber matches, don't look for the creative team to make any attempt to shift the focus from their annual hit event.
JOEY STYLES did, however, in surprise fashion blast his current employer the WWE for their epic mishandling of the acquisition of WCW on his Twitter account:
10 years ago today WWF bought WCW, tried a WCW vs. WWF story without Flair, Sting, Nash, Goldberg, etc... BOMB! They then tried WWECW... BIG BOMB! (http://twitter.com/joeystyles)
NEXT MONDAY night on Raw, the next inductees to the 2011 Hall of Fame class are expected to be revealed as The Road Warriors.
JEFF HARDY reportedly has been pulled from all live events, including the Lockdown! Pay-Per-View. TNA officials are supposedly not planning on using Hardy on television until the aftermath of his court date on April 20th.
TNA iMPACT ratings continue to show a slow rise over the past couple of weeks, with this past week's (3/17) episode showing a rating of 1.78, an increase of about .03 over the past week's show.
CAN'T MISS what will surely be a memorable moment in wrestling history, as it was announced this past Monday on Raw that "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson will be LIVE next Monday and will face off with WWE Champion The Miz and John Cena.
*SPOILER* Wade Barrett defeated Kofi Kingston at Tuesday's Smackdown tapings to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion.
REY MYSTERIO is reportedly very unhappy with his current situation in the WWE, and shortly after the press conference announcing the signing of Mexican superstar Mistico (Sin Cara), Mysterio requested his release from the company, and has even threatened to retire (a la Carson Palmer) to be granted his wish.
ACCORDING TO Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Christian is rumored to turn heel at WrestleMania, giving Alberto Del Rio the assist in winning the World Heavyweight Championship. Christian may be in Edge's corner in the match, however the newsletter is adding that the match may end up becoming a three-way bout for the title.
More details are certain to sprout as we inch closer to WrestleMania in the coming days. Until next time...
