What are the Players doing during the NFL Lockout?
What would you do if you didn’t have a job?
'It’s a difficult question to answer, and in all truth, still especially pertinent in this day in age,’ I typed from my parents’ basement.
A few days ago I watched the movie Up in the Air, during which celebrity-crush Anna Kendrick said the following (paraphrasing):
“Anybody who ever built an empire, or changed the world, sat where you are now. And it's because they sat there that they were able to do it.”*
Joblessness, she continued, is only the opportunity to expand one’s horizons.
Which brings us to today’s NFL’ers.
Joblessness is only an opportunity to expand one’s horizons, and so they have taken it.
Hines Ward has embarked on a dancing career, Dez Bryant’s working to affect change in the dress code of the upper class Dallas-area shopping centers, and Jason Babin is becoming a football player. (The latter is news because he’d be playing in the CFL—which is very much like American Football, only nicer and with a smaller army.)
We’ll give you the updates on all the latest pursuits of our favorite unemployeds as they step out of their comfort zones, and step on into their new lives.
Wherever those might be.
*This might’ve been celebrity-crush George Clooney. It was one of the two.
