In their hometown, the Philadelphia Phillies took Game One in the NLDS against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The contest was sold out and filled with anxious fans awaiting their first postseason victory in 15 years. Phillies starting pitcher Cole Hamels pitched a gem, scattering two hits and no runs in eight strong innings. He also posted nine strikeouts.

The Phillies got help on the offensive side of the ball when Chase Utley's two-out, two-run double gave them the lead. Soon after, Milwaukee starter Yovani Gallardo walked Shane Victorino with the bases loaded to force in the third run. All three runs were unearned because of Mike Cameron's error.

Galladaro went four-and-two-thirds innings, but lacked control throughout, resulting in a high pitch count. In all, the Brewers used five pitchers—not a good amount in Game One.

The game was closed out in a queasy sort of matter because Brad Lidge gave up another run. The threat was still on with the Brewers on base and the winning run at the plate. Lidge worked through it, however, with back-to-back strikeouts, and that was the game.

Game Two of this series is tomorrow at 6:00 ET on TBS. The pitching match-up should be a good one: C.C. Sabathia vs. Brett Myers. Despite only having three days of rest, Sabathia looks primed and ready to go at it tomorrow evening.
