Will Nick Fairley Fall to Tennessee at No. 8?

Nick Fairley burst onto the scene this year for Auburn. He not only helped lead the Tigers to a BCS Championship but he also was awarded the Lombardi award given to the nations best lineman or linebacker and he was awarded the BCS National Championship MVP for his performance against Oregon.

Despite all the success Fairley had this year there are still a lot of concerns about how he will translate to the NFL. His body shape isn’t ideal for a defensive tackle and he has only had one full year as a contributor on a major college team. There have also been questions about him being a dirty player.

At the combine Fairley did perform very well. He showed a lot of explosion in his position drills and he did the drills despite a shoulder injury.

The Titans have not had the same defensive success since the departure of prized free agent Albert Haynesworth so I think Fairley would be an outstanding addition to the Titans because he could fill that void.
