The Save Of The Season ... Well Pre-season Anyway!

I'll be the first to admit I haven't caught as much of the pre-season as I would have liked.  Like the Canadiens this is my pre-season.  The Elliot Lake Mustangs Pee Wee Team (shameless plug for the team I coach) is on the ice at least twice a week, there are many more coaches and parents meetings on top of that as we get ready for our season.  But last night after an early practice it was just my kids, me and TSN.

An original six match-up between the Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings and the Montreal Canadiens.  I have to agree with Pierre and Gord, this was not like a pre-season game, it was face paced game filled with great hits, great passing, great goals and ONE AMAZING SAVE courtesy of Carey Price.  Having watched it over and over I just couldn't describe it to do it justice.   All I have to say is watch the Honour Role tonight on TSN to see it.

How would you like to be Bob, Guy and the rest of the staff trying to narrow down this roster?  There is reason to be excited when you see the effort Max Pacioretty showed playing with Kovalev and Lang ... there was some instant chemistry between Alex and Max ... can you say KLP line?  It sets up some very interesting problems for the staff as they decide who stays and who goes.  Who do you think is on the bubble ... is it Dandenault ... Lapierre ... Chipchura or is it Latendresse as suggested on last nights telecast? We'll have to wait and see.

What ever the roster ends up being for Montreal there is reason to be excited.  When I can even get a positive comments from my boss (the biggest Leaf fan I know) about the skill and speed of the Canadiens I know we're on the right track.

By the way The Canadiens won the game in a shoot-out 2 - 1 on goals by Pacioretty and Lang.
