The Rays are 57-24 at home this season. The only way the White Sox can win this series is if the Rays who are new to winning can’t handle the post season and folds. The post season is it’s own animal. There is nothing in the regular season that comes close to playoff baseball. The Rays have yet to prove anything in the playoffs since they have never been. The White Sox of course won it all in 2005.
Looking at the match up you would go with the Rays. The are rested, at home, injury free, and their pitching rotation is set. The Sox however come in without M.V.P. candidate Carlos Quentin, Joe Crede, and Jose Contreras. The Sox are on the road with a 35-46 away record. Their rotation is tired and overused at this point. The Sox will have played 17 games in the last 18 days when they play the Rays.
Looking at this from different angles you can see the Rays winning this series. Well I am a Sox fan so I see the Rays being the Rays and that means watching them lose. The Rays will have to show me they can win in the post season for me to believe.
