According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Bulls are now heavily involved in trade talks with the Houston Rockets.
Chicago, lacking star power and needing help in an undersized backcourt, could really use Tracy McGrady in their starting lineup.
The question is: Can they afford him?
McGrady is making $19 million this year, and is set to make $44 million over the next two years on his contract with the Rockets.
McGrady would likely draw many players and much money out of Chicago.
Bulls center Ben Wallace, who is currently making $15 million a season, would most definitely be needed to make the trade happen.
But will that be enough?
FOXsports.com reports that Chicago is also likely to re-enter trade talks with Michael Heisley, the owner of the Memphis Grizzlies, to learn about seven-footer Pau Gasol.
Are the Bulls looking at trying a three-team deal?

The trade for McGrady would be a start. I propose taking it further, and trading for Gasol, as well. I'm not a fan of Gasol, but I think that he could help out our team, in the right role.
My proposal is:
Bulls trade Noah and Nocioni to the Grizzlies for Gasol.
And, they trade Wallace and Gordon to the Rockets for McGrady.
Now, I'm sure some other "minor" players, and draft picks might be involved, but as long as we don't give up our first rounder next year, I'm ok with whatever we give up.
With that, we trot out a starting lineup of Hinrich, McGrady, Deng, Gasol, and Gray. That also allows Tyrus and Sefolosha more minutes off the bench. It would also give them someone that could help develop them into better offensive threats. McGrady and Gasol are both known for their offense, and they both play the same positions Thomas and Sefolosha play, so why wouldn't they learn from them.
Plus, the contracts all match. Paxson needs to grow a pair and pull the trigger on both trades, without giving up too much!

Well lets just say that the Rockets are not going to give up T-Mac for Wallace. It doesn't do a thing for Houston. If the Rockets didn't trade T-Mac for Kobe Bryant, what makes you think they would trade for Wallace and Gordon?
By the way there is no news in Houston in regards to this trade. Zero news, which suggests that this rumor is being generated in Chicago.

I wasn't saying it was going to happen. All I was saying was that it would be nice if it did. And, I wouldn't doubt that the rumors are being started in Chicago. We need to do something to take our minds off of our crappy play right now! I know there is no way we are going to get either of these players. It's just a dream, at this point. Although, with McGrady's injury risk, I don't even think it's the smartest trade to make.
But, like I say, we have to do something.

The bulls need a star and ben wallace the past defensive player of the year has been a dissapointmenet, ben gordan however cann get you 24points but is highly inconsistent. The firing of skiles hasent helped much, john paxonshould have been the one, john paxon needs to realize what hes got, he already missed on kobe, he needs to start thinking.

why would houston trade for wallace when they have dikembe and yao? what i've seen from wallace this year is a tired sluggish under sized center who's here to collect a pay check and retire in the near future. what makes you think houston would want someone like that when they have the same type of player only slightly older and more rejuvinated in dikembe mutumbo?

Ironically, this deal works in 2009. Larry Hughes and Kirk Hinrich to Houston for McGrady. That deal actually suits Houston more. They get a pure point guard and a competent two-guard.

Wow, that is very ironic. It would be cool if this happens.
Thanks for digging this up, Percy!
