Mixing Up the Alabama Football Kool-Aid
That Alabama Kool-Aid is going to be ready soon, but I'm not going to drink it just yet.
It seems that every week is another test for Alabama. This week it will be to see if our team has the heart of a champion. We are home after a huge win, favored big, so this is the test.
In previous years we would come out flat, wallow around for two or three quarters and then squeak by. If I am hearing correctly, practices are not much fun this week. Coach Saban knows just from the second half that his team took its foot off the pedal.
The first half was a clinic; an undisciplined Georgia team giving 'Bama extra chances and 'Bama taking advantage of them. It was a clinic, and personally a joy to watch.
But the second half showed the team has to work on special teams. What's up with a kicker just deciding he heard a whistle and stopping? How about suddenly leaving receivers open? Even with a block in the back, no one should let up on punt coverage! And many more.
However, if this team has erased those old habits and the young players are in charge, then Saturday should be fun to watch. Every week in the SEC is competitive, but you shouldn't allow lesser team to stay in the game, i.e. Ole Miss vs. Florida.
There is joy in Tuscaloosa and with Alabama Nation across the world. But we should all remember one thing; there is a lot of football left to play.
