I’m Jack Winter, B/R’s Kansas Basketball Featured Columnist and a college basketball fiend.  I’ll be with you during the first day of the “new” second round of the NCAA Tournament, offering in-depth analysis and insight on games from 11:30-5:00 ET.

A 12-5 matchup between first round winner Clemson and Bob Huggins’ West Virginia team kicks things off at 12:15, followed by a mid-major battle featuring nine-seed Old Dominion and eight-seed (and 2010 runner-up, of course) Butler.

At 1:40 (13) Morehead State and (4) Louisville tip-off, which should be a study in contrasts.  Morehead is led by big man Kenneth Faried, who led the NCAA in rebounding this season and is a potential NBA lottery pick, while the ‘Ville relies heavily on the backcourt trio of Preston Knowles, Peyton Siva and Kyle Kuric.

Another game I have my eye on is 12-seed Richmond versus five-seed Vanderbilt at 4:10.  The Spiders have been a popular early upset pick, as the Commodores appear vastly over-seeded coming out of the weak SEC.

There isn’t a better day in sports than the opening Thursday of the NCAA Tournament, and if last week’s conference action was any indication, this year’s March Madness should be among the best ever.  Let’s go!
