As impressive as Alabama has been, I still think Oklahoma is better on a neutral field. They dismantled a good TCU team.

The Sooners have yet to fall, so they make it to the top of the polls.
Archie Adams #1
They're a great team and put a whippin' on TCU, but their schedule doesn't help them any.
Justin S. #1
Jackson Smith #1
This team is really hitting on all cylinders offensively. They have yet to play a real quality team yet. The Sooners should win the Big 12, but they must get past Texas in a heated rivalry.

The clear-cut No.1 team after a wild weekend filled with upsets.

Oklahoma took on on of the top ranked defenses in the nation this last Saturday. TCU shut down their run game, but quarterback Sam Bradford went to the air for 411 yards and four touchdowns. Oklahoma's defense held TCU to only 10 points, far below their average of 47.

The Sooners offense had been hitting on all cylinders with Bradford leading the charge. We may find out more about this team after back to back games against Texas and Kansas.
Matt Wright #1
Trey Bradley #1
I like this team a lot more as a #2 than a #1 team. Did not play as well "from the front" last year. Hopefully, this team is more mature and can handle expectations.

Oklahoma is the obvious favorite after another impressive win. I have three words for Oklahoma and Texas this week "don't look ahead". It was only a year ago when their rivalry game took a hit as both teams fell to unranked opponents.
Chris Flanagan #1
This team is so complete and dominate. Its just not fair to the other Big 12 teams.

A well-rounded program hitting its stride.

Move up to No. 1 by default, but are hanging on by a thread - not because of anything they're doing wrong, but because of how well Alabama is playing. We'll find out in two weeks how good this team really is.

Oklahoma beats a worthy opponent in TCU handily and QB Sam Bradford proved that he is worthy of serious consideration for the Heisman Trophy
Michael Shibley #1
May have not played as tough a schedule as Alabama so far, but they are a stronger team long term that Alabama.
Justin Goar #1
The Sooners still have the tough games to come on the schedule but for now rule the #1 spot.

I guess I have to agree with everyone else once in a while.

Sooner,s proved they have a legitimate offense against the number one defense in the country. With a strong defense of their own if they can stay undefeated they will play for the national championship.
Alvin Dominique #1
Rolled then #24 TCU. They are averaging a hair under 40 points per game, and are winning by 36 points per game. That number should come down with Big XII play starting, emphasis on the "should". They have two tough stretches. In two weeks they get back to back home games w/ Texas and Kansas, followed by a season ending two-fer with Texas Tech in Norman and a visit to Stillwater.

The offensive line is big. The defense is quick. Sam Bradford is not making any mistakes. This team looks like a squad that can get over the hump and win a BCS bowl game -- namely the National Championship.
Colin Clark #1
Big win over a team with upset potential

Dominated TCU this week

The most impressive team so far no doubt. They have a stellar offense with weapons everywhere. Quarterback Sam Bradford is extremely talented and has completed over 70 percent of his passes. Though they are number 1 now I am not completely sold on them for one reason...they haven't played anyone decent yet. TCU is their nest win and the Horned-Frogs do not belong in the top 25. For now though the Sooners deserve the top spot.

In case you haven't noticed, the Sooners haven't played one close game this year, and they haven't been marching through cupcakes. They'll have a huge target on their backs in conference play.
Jesse Monday #1
I've said since week one this is the best team in the country.
Scott Glesner #1
I guess Oklahoma received the memo about watching out for the upset at home. The fun times are ahead for OU to prove that they are the real deal.
Josh Rosenberg #1
It's just like how I said with USC last time. This team is number 1. For now....
Don Bradner #1
Joe Barton #1
The Sooners have outlasted the pre-season top 5. They are sitting pretty high right now after a blowout win over TCU. The Sooners have one of the most balanced teams in the country. Sam Bradford is a solid QB who could very well win the Heisman. Their defense is very stout and one of the best in the nation. OU has a tough road ahead of them, but they have earned the #1 spot.
Matthew Smith #1
Billy Williamson #1
Jayson Stock #1
Big win over #1 rated defense.

They deserve to be there

A pretty clear-cut #1 at this point in my book. We'll see how it holds up as the season progresses.
Jeffrey McDaniel #1
On a day when upsets were contagious, the Sooners sent a message to the rest of the country.
Allen Levin #2
The Sooners looked impressive in a 35-10 stomping over TCU, but with 4 ranked in their remaining schedule, can they stay on top?

Sooners looking better than ever. Big tests on the 11th and 18th with Kansas at home and Kansas State on the road.

Impressive victory over TCU slides OU to number 2.
Stephen Williams #2
Jimson Cuenta #2
The Sooners make it 1-2, for the Big 12.
Adam Wren #2
Can anything stop them?
Ryan Williams #2
Scott Pusich #2
(previous: 5) The Sooners were definitely NOT looking ahead or taking a win vs. the TCU "Horny Toads" for granted. An impressive win, but the toughest tests lie ahead, especially the Red River Shootout on Oct. 11 (see #3). In the meantime, the Sooners travel to Baylor this weekend.
Ian Zymarakis #2
James Doker #2
Haven't been tested yet, but also haven't played anyone good enough to test them.
T.J. Beard #2
If the Crimson Tide struggle against Ole Miss or Tennessee in the next couple weeks, and Oklahoma manages to knock off Texas, I'll push the Sooners into the number 1 spot. For now, they'll have to settle.
Mark Balhoff #2
Derrek Croney #2
Beating TCU is impressive and all, but I can't put the Sooners above Alabama based on that.
Avinash Kunnath #2
tom scurlock #2
Sam Heinrichs #2
The Sooners are of course impressive in all their victories so far this season. Expect Them to stay in the top of the rankings. I just don't see them as the #1 team in the nation. Sorry Oklahome fans, your not the best team in the Big 12 either.
Isaac Elyacharshuster #2
Ryan Gemmell #2
Very potent offense and strong defense. Has not had a poor performance to date. Could easily be #1.
Joe Bleacher #2
Very potent offense and strong defense. Has not had a poor performance to date. Could easily be #1.
Shaun Ahmad #2
Jon Ellsworth #2
Tosten Burks #3
Timothy Croley #3
Sooners haven't done anything wrong, they just haven't played anyone yet.
Lisa Horne #3
Beat a highly competitive team, then I'll I rank you higher.
Nicholas Pardini #3
Oklahoma passed his first major test with flying colors. Lead by 411 passing yards from Sam Bradford, the Sooners dominated a ranked TCU team and look like a potential BCS title team.
Mike Bedgood #4
Brad Shipley #6
This team should be higher. They will certainly get there if they can beat the also highly-ranked Longhorns.
