The Sooners have outlasted the pre-season top 5. They are sitting pretty high right now after a blowout win over TCU. The Sooners have one of the most balanced teams in the country. Sam Bradford is a solid QB who could very well win the Heisman. Their defense is very stout and one of the best in the nation. OU has a tough road ahead of them, but they have earned the #1 spot.

Matthew Smith #1

Billy Williamson #1

Jayson Stock #1

Big win over #1 rated defense.

12 #1

They deserve to be there

Kristofer Green #1

Brian Scott #1

Will Devlin #1

A pretty clear-cut #1 at this point in my book. We'll see how it holds up as the season progresses.

Jeffrey McDaniel #1

On a day when upsets were contagious, the Sooners sent a message to the rest of the country.

Allen Levin #2

The Sooners looked impressive in a 35-10 stomping over TCU, but with 4 ranked in their remaining schedule, can they stay on top?

Benjamin Crane #2

Chad Haynie #2

Dustin Delahoussaye #2

Sam Bradford and the Sooners offense continue to steamroll opponents.

andrew johnston #2

Hector Aleandro #2

Brett Lissenden #2

David Wu #2

Dan Alexandre #2

Will Chambers #2

Sooners looking better than ever. Big tests on the 11th and 18th with Kansas at home and Kansas State on the road.

mark scacewater #2

Impressive victory over TCU slides OU to number 2.

Stephen Williams #2

Jimson Cuenta #2

The Sooners make it 1-2, for the Big 12.

Adam Wren #2

Can anything stop them?

Ryan Williams #2

Scott Pusich #2

(previous: 5) The Sooners were definitely NOT looking ahead or taking a win vs. the TCU "Horny Toads" for granted. An impressive win, but the toughest tests lie ahead, especially the Red River Shootout on Oct. 11 (see #3). In the meantime, the Sooners travel to Baylor this weekend.

Ian Zymarakis #2

James Doker #2

Haven't been tested yet, but also haven't played anyone good enough to test them.

T.J. Beard #2

If the Crimson Tide struggle against Ole Miss or Tennessee in the next couple weeks, and Oklahoma manages to knock off Texas, I'll push the Sooners into the number 1 spot. For now, they'll have to settle.

Mark Balhoff #2

Derrek Croney #2

Beating TCU is impressive and all, but I can't put the Sooners above Alabama based on that.

Avinash Kunnath #2

tom scurlock #2

Sam Heinrichs #2

The Sooners are of course impressive in all their victories so far this season. Expect Them to stay in the top of the rankings. I just don't see them as the #1 team in the nation. Sorry Oklahome fans, your not the best team in the Big 12 either.

Isaac Elyacharshuster #2

Ryan Gemmell #2

Very potent offense and strong defense. Has not had a poor performance to date. Could easily be #1.

Joe Bleacher #2

Very potent offense and strong defense. Has not had a poor performance to date. Could easily be #1.

Shaun Ahmad #2

Jon Ellsworth #2

Tosten Burks #3

Timothy Croley #3

Sooners haven't done anything wrong, they just haven't played anyone yet.

Lisa Horne #3

Beat a highly competitive team, then I'll I rank you higher.

Nicholas Pardini #3

Oklahoma passed his first major test with flying colors. Lead by 411 passing yards from Sam Bradford, the Sooners dominated a ranked TCU team and look like a potential BCS title team.

Mike Bedgood #4

Brad Shipley #6

This team should be higher. They will certainly get there if they can beat the also highly-ranked Longhorns.
