Mike Bedgood #1

The Tide has been my one of my favorites all season and now they are proving it. Beating two Top 25 teams (so far) handily is signs of more to come.

Tosten Burks #1

Benjamin Crane #1

Chad Haynie #1

andrew johnston #1

They've had some early tests, and passed all of them easily.

Hector Aleandro #1

David Wu #1

Dan Alexandre #1

Will Chambers #1

Dominated a tough Georgia team between the hedges, who knows if anyone can beat the tide!

Lisa Horne #1

Sorry Oklahoma...you have played no one that comes close to the same level of competition that the Tide has.

Stephen Williams #1

Adam Wren #1

The only team, thus far, who has dominated two Top 10 teams where they were the underdog.

Chad Bradbury #1

Ryan Williams #1

Ian Zymarakis #1

They looked great vs. Georgia early. They sputtered a bit in the 2nd half but none the less that type of performance should jump them to #1.

James Doker #1

The Clemson and Georgia games are the best combo of wins so far.

Jon Lunceford #1

Mark Balhoff #1

T.J. Beard #1

Of all the contenders, Bama is the owner of the most impressive victory so far. Embarassing Georgia between the Hedges gets my number one vote.

Derrek Croney #1

I'm convinced the Crimson Tide, based on their defense, can go into any stadium in America and put a 31-0 first half beatdown on anyone.

Sam Heinrichs #1

Very impressive in there 41-30 victory of the previously #1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs. Expect them to remain in the top 5 for a while. Atleast til the end of the season, when there SEC schedule really kicks in.

Isaac Elyacharshuster #1

Ryan Gemmell #1

Most impressive team against the best competition of any program in the top 25.

Brad Shipley #1

Alabama has easily been the most impressive team so far.

Shaun Ahmad #1

Jon Ellsworth #1

Allen Levin #1

The Crimson Tide beat former number 1 Georgia in a convincing 41-30 win. They are 5-0 and look like they can go undefeated if they are able to beat LSU.

Jared Reback #2

Wow, quite an effort by the Tide in Athens. They are clearly a candidate to be number one right now, but I still think they are a shade behind Oklahoma.

John Langford #2

Justin S. #2

Archie Adams #2

I knew they were for real after watching them beat Clemson in person, and now they've shown the nation just how good they are.

Jackson Smith #2

Played very impressive in every big game they have had. Still questions about finishing games and playing down to weaker competition. If they run the ball at will like they did against Georgia, that will open up the passing game for a senior, three year starting quarterback. The SEC should look out...

Steven Smith #2

Adam Lindemer #2

Made a statement in Georgia's attempt to "black them out". Exactly whose funeral was it Saturday?

Dan Boss #2

Jeff Johnson #2

The Crimson Tide stuffed the number three ranked Georgia Bulldogs in their house. The Tide are now the team to beat in the SEC.

Matt Wright #2

Ned Dutton #2

Edward Leigh #2

Paul Augustin #2

The Tide appear to have one of the more dominant defensive lines in college football.

Robbie Munroe #2

I have Alabama in the 2 spot this week after two quality road wins. Not only did they wreck Clemson and Georgia's seasons....they did it convincingly. In each game they outscored their opponent by halftime.

Michael Devivero #2

Stuart Whitehair #2

Tim Pollock #2

Justin Potts #2

The Crimson Tide shouldn't be tested again until Nov. 8 at LSU. But the key word is shouldn't. In the crazy world that is college football, anything can happen, especially in the SEC.

GeorgiaDawg #2

Kevin Buller #2

Timothy Croley #2

Best front lines in college football, on both sides of the ball. That is the difference for this team! But i like playing the underdog, so number two will do for now.

Matt St. Jean #2

Alabama silenced all the critics by smoking the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens and is creeping closer to that number one spot.

Michael Shibley #2

Tide are rolling. Only two away games left, at LSU and at Tennessee. As easy as an SEC schedule can be.

Justin Goar #2

Not that Georgia is the toughest place to play in the world, but winning there and as impressively as the Tide did, I jumped the Tide to #2. They dominated that game more than the final score indicated.

Jonathan Lintner #2

Marde Burke #2

Sabine in on a role with a gritty win this week. If they can stay focused in the SEC they have a chance at Oklahoma

Alex Ferguson #2

Wes O'Donnell #2

jon agrelius #2

Alex Farrer #2

Frank Therber #2

Perry Griffith #2

Nicholas Pardini #2

Nick Saban has proven his worth by turning the Crimson Tide into a national title contender in only his second season. Alabama has had the most impressive set of wins of any team in the nation. First they blowout Clemson 34-10, and have a dominant 41-30 win over Georgia that includes a 31-0 halftime lead. Alabama is loaded with young talent and they will continue to get better as the season goes.

Pete Dymeck #2

Little John Parker Wilson can look skittish at times but the defense is a much better unit than we anticipated at the start of the season. They are built to win in the SEC.

Colin Clark #2

I'm a partisan, but I can't put my Tigers above 'Bama this week.

Bryan Gonzalez #2

Huge win over Georgia on the road. With all their young talent the Tide could be rolling for a long time.

Mosang Miles #2

Hard to deny the strength of their wins.

jon s #2

For now they are number 2 because they have played the most consistent football behind the Sooners. They have absolutely dominated the 1st quarter this season and their quick starts seem to be the reason they never look back. I love their back field and receivers but I am not sold on quarterback John Parker Wilson as of yet. Their win over Georgia was shockingly impressive; however, the win over Clemson doesn't look quite as good due to the Tigers poor performances so far. Bama definitely deserves the two spot s of now. I do expect them to lose 1-3 games this year.

Bill Wilson #2

Showed they could play and win against a good SEC team

Craig Bowie #2

Derek Stephens #2

Winning over Georgia at Athens, enough said.

Zach Stevens #2

Ashley Kleffer #2

That win against Georgia was phenomenal.

troy korth #2

Great in the trenches. Well balanced team.

Owen Munro #2

Eric Gomez #2

Still in the running.

David Morgan #2

Great win, would have liked to see them hold onto that score instead of letting Georgia come back

Pierce Young #2

Wesley Marshall #2

Peter Fleischer #2

Wow. That's all I've got to say about their team after the blowout of Georgia. They have a favorable SEC schedule too. Hats off to Nick Saban.

Jesse Monday #2

Obviously the dominant offense in the SEC.

Matthew Smith #2

Jayson Stock #2

Tide rolls to victory in Athens over highly Bulldogs.

12 #2

Unbelievable first half of football, but Saban was not happy with the failure to finish strong.

Kristofer Green #2

Will Devlin #2

Looking extremely solid and legit

Jeffrey McDaniel #2

Their dismantling of No. 3 Georgia in the first half moves them way up.

BabyTate #3

Jay Jones #3

Scott Redlich #3

Trey Bradley #3

Undoubtedly the most accomplished team so far. But on a neutral field, I would still make OU and USC the favorite.

Will Shelton #3

Chris Flanagan #3

Yeah Nick Saban is worth 4 million a year.

Scientizzle FoShizzle #3

Solid win last week.

mark scacewater #3

Blowout over Georgia--is this a game where we say Alabama is that good, or Georgia is just vastly overrated?

Scott McDaniel #3

Avinash Kunnath #3

Uncle Rico Touchdown Mountain #3

Scott Glesner #3

Now, let me get this straight...Alabama was suppose to have a lot of questions and Clemson was the one to rule the roost of the ACC? Hmmm...those predictions were just "slightly" off.

Josh Rosenberg #3

31 points in the first half against #3 Georgia??? This year's Alabama-LSU game could be for a BCS title game berth.

Don Bradner #3

Joe Barton #3

Bama is back in a big way. They look completely different from the 2007 Alabama Crimson Tide. Although I have disdain for Nick Saban, he knows what he is doing. The Tide defense is amazing. In the 41-30 victory over Georgia, Alabama had great field position because of their stellar defense. John Parker Wilson is a great game manager and hasn't had to make big plays. The Alabama-LSU game is going to be the game of the year unless either one loses before that game.

Billy Williamson #3

Brian Scott #3

Dustin Delahoussaye #4

The Georgia win was very impressive, but I'm still not sold on this team. Win at LSU, and then Tuscaloosa will really be buzzing.

Brett Lissenden #4

Scott Pusich #4

(previous: 8) Replace the Georgia Bulldogs at #4, on the basis of their impressive road win in Athens. Poor UGA (the dog AND the team), they didn't even see it comin'... I guess it *was* a funeral. I'm still going to be interested in what happens with the 'Tide's game against Arkansas State on Nov. 1, though. *grin*

Austin Todd #4

Made Georgia look like a High School JV team in the first half last Saturday

Mark Jones #4

Michael Cline #5

College Football Fanatic #5

Now I know which team was overrated. Georgia.

tom scurlock #5

Jeff Nygaard #6

miamimitchdotcom #6

Just renting a space in the top ten for now is my guess.
