Cedric Benson Getting Another Chance In the NFL; Signs With the Bengals
Cedric Benson was let go by the Chicago Bears due to two separate alcohol-related arrests in Texas. Now though, he is getting another chance to play in the NFL.
On Tuesday, the Cincinnati Bengals signed Benson to replace the hole left by running back DeDe Dorsey. Dorsey was placed on injured reserve Tuesday after hurting his hamstring in a 20-12 loss to Cleveland.
Benson was drafted by the Bears in 2005 and rushed for 1,593 yards and 10 TDs before being released by the Bears last season. He missed five games last season due to an ankle injury, but rushed for 674 yards.
Cedric Benson was arrested in May for operating a boat while intoxicated and resisting arrest. Then in June, he was arrested for drunk driving. Last week, a jury decided not to indict Benson on those charges.
