Yes, BYU They have surprised many this year with a solid defense, no one doubts the offense that is stacked deep with talent. I don't see anyone other than LSU, Oklahoma,Alabama, and BYU going undefeated.
Nicholas Pardini #4
This may seem a little high for a Mountain West team, but BYU has been dominating its competition since escaping from Washington. Quarterback Max Hall has been putting up the best numbers in the nation and the Cougars defense has been able to keep up with their high power offense.

Benefited from the upsets -- a very good football team.
miamimitchdotcom #5
Looking better and better with eveyone in front of them looking worse.
Uncle Rico Touchdown Mountain #5

BYU is the like Boise State of 2006 or Hawaii in 2007, except better. After their near loss to Washington, the Cougars shut out UCLA and Wyoming in back-to-back weeks. Max Hall is a terrific QB and still has one more year with BYU. Their only trap game is Utah so I expect them to roll undefeated.
Jared Reback #6
With all the upsets, this BCS buster is ready to make a run.
John Langford #6
Archie Adams #6
They're set to be undefeated, and possibly in the top 2, headed into their meeting with Utah the last week of the season.
Scott Redlich #6
Paul Augustin #6
The best team in a good conference. They have a chance to be something special this year.
Jonathan Lintner #6
Shaun Ahmad #7
Benjamin Crane #7
Jackson Smith #7
Looking good in a weak conference. Will probably be the BCS "Buster" of 2008. The game against Utah later will be huge.
andrew johnston #7
Adam Lindemer #7
The Mountain West would love to crash the BCS party...with two teams. Utah not too far behind in the polls.
Hector Aleandro #7
Scientizzle FoShizzle #7
They own opponents at home but struggled in their only road game. The game at bottom-dweller Utah State may be closer than expected.

The Cougars definitely deserve this spot, even though they just slipped by Washington and pounded a lowly UCLA team. Quarterback Max Hall is the real deal.
Scott Pusich #7
(previous: 7) Would have dropped a place due to facing look-alike program BYE this past weekend, but three teams above them lost, so the Cougars stay put. Next game on Friday @ Utah State is not likely to present much of a test, either.
Matt St. Jean #7
I do not think there is a hotter quarterback in the nation than Max Hall and BYU hasn't even sniffed defeat in five games.
Ryan Williams #7
Bryan Gonzalez #7
Whispers of a possible chance of a national title apperance in Provo with all the teams in front of them having a very tough road ahead.
Mosang Miles #7
Ian Zymarakis #7
Max Hall is a great QB and could possibly be the most underrated of any program in the top 25
T.J. Beard #7
After a close call against Washington, BYU has been lights out. In the two games since then, the Cougars have outscored their opponents 103-0. Yes, one of those teams was Wyomming and the other was a weak UCLA team, but over 100 points in two weeks plus two shutouts is too impressive to ignore. Not playing a ranked team until the final week may bump this team into the top 5 within a matter of weeks.
Bill Wilson #7
Have beaten team badly this year and look like a BCS bowl team right now.
College Football Fanatic #7
Like I said last week, if BYU continues on this roll, we may have to consider them for more than just a BCS bowl spot.
Jesse Monday #7
Still doesn't make any sense.
Josh Rosenberg #7
Looks like the Mountain West Championship will be unbeaten BYU versus unbeaten Utah.
Scott Glesner #7
BYU remains as the second-best team in the Pac-10...oh so close to being number one.

Brigham Young has cruised to two straight shutout victories. But, they only play one ranked team for the rest of the season.

Not entirely out of the question that they could play for the National Championship.
Will Chambers #8
Cougars look good and with the remaining schedule looking to be in their favor, they could be looking at a BCS game this year.
Timothy Croley #8
Quietly sitting there just waiting to be the spoiler.
Adam Wren #8
Michael Shibley #8
Are they as good as the top teams in the SEC or Big XII? Maybe not, but if they can get to a BCS bowl they have a chance to prove me wrong.
Colin Clark #8
The road still looks tough before you can put money on BYU for a BCS game (Air Force, Utah, TCU).
James Doker #8
Looked stellar so far, but that domination of UCLA is losing its luster by the week.
jon s #8
Great offense. Underrated defense. Beat UCLA 59-0! 2 weeks after UCLA upset Tennessee and gave Fresno St. all they could handle. I think BYU has a great shot to run the table and get a BCS bowl but I do think the computer will rank them lower than big conference teams when the BCS comes out. They are a team that could play competitively with a lot of teams but I am not sure if they would win. Plus, they were a bad call away from possibly losing to Washington who is absolutely dreadful.
Craig Bowie #8
troy korth #8
Haven't beat anybody yet but shutting out two Bowl division teams is imprressive. Lets see how they perform on the road.
Joe Bleacher #8
Other than the hiccup against Washington they have blown every team out. Great offense.
Owen Munro #8
Derrek Croney #8
Who is to say the Cougars won't shutout Utah State this week, and run their shutout streak to 12 quarters?
Ryan Gemmell #8
Other than the hiccup against Washington they have blown every team out. Great offense.
Kristofer Green #8
Jeffrey McDaniel #9
The Cougars benefitted from having the week off, just like Missouri and Texas Tech. It remains to be seen if they are the real deal.

BYU falls in behind USC and South Florida because they're still better teams than the Cougars. Let's be serious...
