Proving more and more every week that last year was no fluke.
James Doker #7
They beat Kansas, and blew out NC State, but looked like a different team against in-state puffballs UCF and FIU.
Nicholas Pardini #7
Due to the Big East's weakness, South Florida has a great shot to go undefeated and sneak into the title game. The Jayhawks' success ultimately may determine how South Florida appears in the BCS title game.
Wesley Marshall #7
Hopefully the Bulls remember well enough what happened to their run at the top of the rankings last year.
Peter Fleischer #7
Quality wins, an easy-ish schedule, and stars on both sides of the ball. What's not to like?
Isaac Elyacharshuster #7

I like Jim Leavitt and I like this team. I hope that they can bring some respectability to the Big East.
Dan Boss #8
Paul Augustin #8
Not a flashy team, but they are very solid. They won't beat themselves.
mark scacewater #8
Second year in a row the Bulls start off hot, but this year look for them to stay undefeated a bit longer.
Jonathan Lintner #8
Marde Burke #8
Only West Virginia and U Conn stand in the way but close games this year will hold them back in the end.
Pete Dymeck #8
For just the second season in school history, the Bulls are top ten material. Quarterback Matt Grothe looks like Steve Young and the set of playmakers on offense continue to flash signs of greatness.
Matt St. Jean #8
South Florida has proved again the they are a solid football team, but they have another crucial match up against the Pittsburgh Panthers this week.

Still feels like a Cinderella (even though they are not)

So I might be wrong about USF being this year's Rutgers because Rutgers lost to an ACC foe in week 5 of 2007. USF easily blewout N.C. State week five. But there still are seven games left in the season... At least I was right about West Virginia. (2-2)

As much as I hate the Bulls being that I go to UCF, I have to give them props. They are 5-0 and look like they are ready to capture the Big East crown.
Archie Adams #9
The Bulls looked like they had a lot of fun slapping NC State around in the rain.
Jackson Smith #9
Best team in a weak Big East Conference. Grothe looks good, and the defense has played great. Signature win against Kansas. Still has to get past West Virginia.

USF looks to be the favorite in the Big East conference, and with Matt Grothe at quarterback and George Silvie on the pass rush i smell a BCS bowl game, with potential of going undefeated
Timothy Croley #9
Bulls have been solid so far. Let's see if they can run away with the Big East title.
Joe Barton #9
USF is for real this year. We'll have to see if they can avoid their late season slump like they did last year, but I have a feeling they can cruise. The Big East is worse than usual and they are sitting atop pretty comfortably. After they beat the crap out of my Wolfpack yesterday, I erased my doubts. Matt Grothe is a very talented player who is one of the best dual-threat QBs in the country. George Selvie is one of the top defensive ends in the '09 class. With some more stability at RB, this team could go very far.

Best team by far in the Big East.

Looks as if the Bulls and Uconn are the class of the Big East.
Craig Bowie #9
Bill Wilson #9
A very good quarterback with a lot of speed on the defense
troy korth #9
Not much competition in confrence.

I'm not going to lie. I thought last year's South Florida team was a fluke and would fall off this season but yet, here they are. They look damn good too.

Don't look now, but the Bulls are in the top-10 for a second straight season after destroying NC State.
Jayson Stock #9
The Bulls are looking to make another run at the Big East crown.
Jeffrey McDaniel #10
The Bulls dominated NC State, and for the second straight year are unbeaten after five games.
Will Devlin #10
The class of the Big East right now ... demolished a bad NC State team on the road.

A big win over NC State was much needed after three close calls. Still wouldn't be surprised if Pitt pulls off the upset this weekend, though.
Joe Bleacher #10
Nice win against Kansas a few weeks ago. They have the athletes and defensive speed to compete. Need to play more consistently.
Jesse Monday #10
Nc State isn't a huge win btu USF is playing solid football.
Scott Glesner #10
So far, so good on handling the pressure of being the hunted. We're still early though...plenty of upsets abound.

For now they are up to 11. I am saying it right now, on record... USF better be paying attention this Thursday night when they play Pittsburgh. USF is a good team but not a great team. Their quarterback is a good athlete and can scramble around effectively; nonetheless, he is not a great passer. They have one of the best defensive players in college in George Selvin but I think they lose at least 2 games this season.

I still don't know how strongly to rate this team, because their schedule hasn't allowed us to see their real skill. The Kansas win was nice, but not enough to now for sure.
Scott Pusich #15
(previous: 19) Impressive win on the road over N.C. State helps the Bulls make a significant jump. The charge that USF plays "up" or "down" to its opponent may still stick, though. The Big East schedule begins this week, with a Thursday night game at home vs. Pitt.
Justin Goar #15
I keep getting the feeling this program is two years away from being National Title contenders. That's scary.
