I'm not penalizing them as much as Florida. At least their loss came from someone in the top ten.

That was a bad loss to Alabama, but they still have a strong offense. I think they were not prepared to get smashed in the mouth by 'Bama. They will still win the SEC East.

Lost to a very good Bama team, still deserve a top 10 ranking

Fought back from dreadful start. Lost to top ten team.
Justin Goar #8
Georgia played with all the intensity of a funeral. Worse than that they were outplayed at home by a less talented team. Did I mention they were outcoached too?

Sure the Dawg lost, but they probably lost to the best team in the SEC.
Will Devlin #9
After being completely dismantled by a hot Crimson Tide squad, the Dawgs take a dive.

For now I am going to assume (perhaps foolishly) that the Bulldogs are the best one loss team. If I'm choosing Bama as my current number one, it's only fair to believe that.
Derek Stephens #9
Alabama about killed their national title hopes, but Georgia can still win the SEC.
Scott Glesner #9
Is the Georgia Blackout where they have a blackout for the 1st half? They need Penn State's Whiteout to forget Saturday night.

Penalties and a slow start proved to be the Achilles Heal of the Bulldogs, but they've got to bounce back quickly, facing four more ranked opponents before the year is out.

Lost to No. 8 Alabama, so staying in the Top Ten is respectable.

Alright look, they beat Florida last year. And they've been living on a false sense of entitlement ever since. What did they do, exactly? Not win the SEC East? Beat Hawaii? Beat Arizona State and struggle to beat South Carolina? Exposed.
Justin Potts #10
Timothy Croley #10
Hey, they were the only top ten team to lose to a ranked opponent! Still, there are several undefeated teams looking good right now.
Matt St. Jean #10
The Bulldogs lose at home to SEC rival Alabama, but there is still hope for the Bulldogs as you can never count a backfield as talented as Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno. They have Tennessee at home this week, look for a big bounce back and Phillip Fulmer to be covering his face with his hat again.

I just don't think their offensive line is good enough. Or their defensive line for that matter. That first half against Alabama they looked like nothing like they did at the end of the year. Their 30 2nd half points I believe was more of Alabama's laziness than Georgia playing well. Stafford is a stud, Moreno is incredible but other than that where is the fire power? Alabama is good but Georgia made them look great. I think Georgia was a little more overrated than Bama was underrated. Injuries have hurt this Bulldogs' team the most.
Bryan Gonzalez #10
weren't ready for a very talented Alabama team.

One of the biggest stories of the weekend. The Bulldogs were downed by Alabama, but the team will recover and still compete for a National championship.
Jeffrey McDaniel #11
Alabama 41, Georgia 24. Need I say more? Ok, Georgia was going to lose twice in the SEC anyway, but did anybody have Alabama as one of them?
Jared Reback #11
Not a very good first half obviously, but they played hard for 60 minutes and Alabama is the real deal.
Jackson Smith #11
Beat up and down the field by Alabama. They just didn't have the fire that a preseason number one should. Should compete in SEC East, and the game against UF will be big.

Disappointing beatdown at the hands of Bama, but still an SEC powerhouse, dont count the dawgs out of a bcs bowl

Which Bulldog team is the team, the one that got blown out 31-0 in the first half to Bama or the one that showed some heart and won the 2nd half 30-10? They have two weeks to stew and then take out their frustrations on Tennessee.
Marde Burke #11
Georgia is not good enough to walk away with wins from both LSU and Auburn
Mike Bedgood #11
Nicholas Pardini #11
Unlike the Trojans, Georgia and Florida are pretty much eliminated from national title contention. First they must play each other and a two loss team will most likely not make a title game. Also Georgia must play at Auburn and LSU and will probably lose at least one of those games.
troy korth #11
Showed resilliance after getting shell shocked. Need to show up every quarter if they want to get back to the top of the SEC.
Peter Fleischer #11
Managed to rally in the second half. But where were they in the first half? At home? At their self-hyped "Blackout" game?

(previous: 4) Almost everyone's preseason pick for #1, the 'Dawgs still have a chance... but they have to first get over the humiliation at home at the hands of the Crimson Tide. Luckily, they face everyone's favorite opponent (BYE) this week, so they have time to lick their wounds and sharpen their teeth for Tennessee's visit on Oct. 11. I might have to drop them a spot for the week's rest, though. 4th-highest ranked team with a loss (4-1), and now the 4th-best team in the SEC.
Lisa Horne #12
Losing at home and losing badly gets them this spot.
Mosang Miles #12

Those black jerseys symbolized a lot more after the game vs. Bama, maybe bruised ego's?

At the "Blackout," Georgia was given a black eye by Alabama. Bouncing back is necessary if Georgia doesn't want to fall behind the other schools in the SEC, namely Vanderbilt (gulp).
James Doker #13
The aura is gone, but they could easily shoot back up the polls by winning out in their miserable schedule.
Bill Wilson #13
Were preseason number one who got torched at home.

That was the worst Georgia's played since the 35-14 loss to Tennessee last year. Kudos to the Georgia fans for actually staying after halftime and nearly helping UGA make a comeback.
Jesse Monday #14
Wow they were number one preseason? Biggest letdown ever. If you have the ebst runnign abck in the NCAA he should be able to find the endzone.

They gave up 31 points in the first half? This team doesn't look like the one that started the season number one and now we know that a top 5 ranking probably wasn't a good idea.
Brad Shipley #16
Plenty of opportunities for redemption ahead.
Scott Redlich #17
Derrek Croney #18
Yep, they had a "Blackout" alright. To the tune of zero points in the first half. At home.

Made John Parker WIlson look like Joe Willy for 30 minutes.
