Packers Journal Entry: Playoff Football at Lambeau Field

4:05 – Much to my surprise the game started close to the announced time. I leisurely finished watching the UCLA / Washington St. game, stayed tune to find out the next matchup on FSN – Cal / Oregon State, and missed the kickoff; tuned in just in time to see Ryan Grant fumble on the first play from scrimmage.

4:07 Shaun Alexander puts the Seahawks up 7-0.

4:12 Grant fumbles again. The question: who is buried in Grant’s tomb? Suddenly becomes less obvious to answer.

4:17 I leave the room to grab some grub. Hasselbeck to Engram – Seahawks up 14-0.

4:32 Favre hooks up with Jennings. Lambeau Leap #1 – 14-7 Seahawks.

4:37 Cullen Jenkins sacks Hasselbeck. Was that Hasselbeck’s belt? It looked like Jenkins caught the Seahawk QB by the belt and ripped it from his pants.

5:05 Packers challenge the first down spot. The snow is starting to pick up. Will Fox use the sideline marking graphic made famous earlier this season during the Bills / Browns game?

5:15 (“Inside Outside, leave me alone, Inside Outside, nowhere is home, Inside Outside where have I been – outta my brain on the 5:15) No sideline graphic – grounds crew breaks out the brooms to clear lines.

5:21 Grant gets some redemption. Game tied at 14.

5:25 First quarter ends. Teams tie league record for combined points in first quarter of a playoff game.

5:28 First play from scrimmage second quarter: Atari (Was it his mom or his dad that was the ‘Asteroids’ champ?) Bigby puts a hurtin’ on Marcus Pollard. The Boston native fumbles. Pack recovers.

5:33 Jennings is leaping again. 21-14 Pack.

5:35 All this activity makes me afraid to leave the room and bring my plate to the sink.

5:39 Bigby dishes out some more hurtin’; this time on Engram.

5:41 Aaron has entered the building.

5:42 Pack gets called for roughing the kicker.

5:45 Field goal Seahawks – 21-17.

5:59 Favre eludes the sack, stumbles, appears to be falling – manages to flip a pass for a completion.

6:00 Grant crosses the goal line. Pack 28-17. Snow is beginning to accumulate on the bill of Mike Holmgren’s hat. Speaking of hats, Pack offensive coordinator, Jeff Jagodzinzki, provides a new use for the strap on the back of an adjustable hat: makes for a great spot to keep one’s pen.

6:04 Hasselbeck takes a knee to end the half.

6:25 Second half begins and the snow continues. The players’ footprints combined with the white powder make the field look like a giant Frosted Mini-Wheat.
