WWE and TNA News: Rey Mysterio, The Rock, Sting & More
Since there is no live blog on wrestling news on weekends, I've decided to put a slideshow together on Saturday's latest news. I'm interested to see how it goes.
I will post the news part first, along with crediting the source. Afterwards, I'll give my take on it.
Rey Mysterio Requested His Release?
"We’re still waiting on more details to come in but Rey Mysterio recently requested his release from WWE and told officials that he would retire if they did not grant his wish. We don’t know when Rey made the request but do know it was before WWE’s big Sin Cara press conference two weeks ago in Mexico. Stay tuned for more."
I would take this lightly.
It hasn't been reported by any other website and WrestleNewz isn't exactly known for credibility.
However, if it is true, this would obviously be huge news. Mysterio has been the top face on Smackdown for sometime now. It would also force Sin Cara to be pushed even faster after his debut.
Was Sting Ever Talking to WWE?
"Multiple TNA sources indicate there were no real discussions between Steve "Sting" Borden and WWE. Any talk of Sting being tied to the '2-21-11' vignettes were false, although some within TNA insist company president Dixie Carter was convinced that was case until 'Taker's face was shown.
"Others within the company say Sting and Dixie had been in talks for weeks negotiating a new contract and Dixie knew that Sting wasn't the type of guy who would 'screw her over and jump ship to WWE.'
"People within TNA were predicting that Sting wouldn't join WWE due to the comfort level he has with the Nashville-based organization and wrestlers he counts on to carry him in the ring. There is also some heat between Sting and Vince McMahon from years ago.
"WWE has sent 'feelers' Sting's way numerous times throughout the years and he has always turned them down.
"There is also no way that Sting would work a full-time WWE schedule including house shows, as he's considered a "family man" these days. He is willing to work the TNA schedule, as it allows him to spend time at home with his wife and kids.

This is interesting.
Most still want to see Sting in WWE, but it looks as if it will never happen.
As noted earlier here on the website, the night after WrestleMania XXVII is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's next advertised appearance on Monday Night Raw. However, a company source is under the impression that he will appear live the week before the pay-per-view extravaganza.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been well-received amongst the WWE locker room. One WWE employee noted that everyone in the company should be pleased he's appearing at WrestleMania because it means more money for everyone.

Gotta update the people on The People's Champ, right?
Kofi Kingston Update
"WWEShop.com has marked down all Kofi Kingston merchandise by 50 to 75%. Also note, WWE has not released new Kingston merchandise in several months. The reigning Intercontinental Champion also did not appear on this week's episode of SmackDown!. Interesting."
It seems like Kofi continues to get pushed farther down by WWE management. When you aren't appearing on your show and your merchandise is being marked down, it's not a good thing.
I hate to speculate, but I'm starting to worry that the WWE is preparing to release Kingston after WrestleMania. He obviously would need to drop the belt sometime before then.
There have been some grumblings of some major mid-card talent being cut.
And this is coming from a big Kofi Kingston mark.
Extreme Rules Poster
Yes, that is the Extreme Rules poster and yes, it does look kind of photoshopped if you asked me.
Obviously, WWE didn't ask me.
As far as CM Punk being on the cover, I wouldn't read much into it. Just go back and look at Money In The Bank's poster, which Kofi Kingston appeared on. How has that worked out for him?
Alex Riley News
"Alex Riley is touring with the RAW brand for the second consecutive week since his on-screen dismissal. At last night's show in Springfield, Mo., he beat Yoshi Tatsu in a singles match and also competed in a battle royal."
As of now, it doesn't look like WWE has anything big for A-Ri. That's unfortunate, because with a gimmick tweak, he could go somewhere.
I realize a simple news slideshow isn't the best thing I could do, but I'm trying to come up with creative ideas right now. So in the meantime, you may see me do this a couple of times.
Thanks for reading.
