Packers-Seahawks: Green Bay Earns Ticket to NFC Championship Game

The Seattle Seahawks were at Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers this afternoon. A spot in the NFC championship game was up for grabs.

Under a steady snow, Brett Favre worked like the magician he is. But very early in the contest, two turnovers committed by Green Bay running back Ryan Grant gave the visitors a 14-0 lead after only a couple of seconds into the game.

This is where Favre shifted gears, leading the Packers to two consecutive touchdown drives, tying the score at 14-14 before the end of the first quarter. The 28 points scored by both teams during the first quarter tied a NFL post-season record.

During the second quarter, the Packers continued their consecutive touchdown drives. The Packers went into the locker room at the half with a comfortable lead. The game was theirs to lose from that point on. Seattle was never able cope with the Pack attack during the second half.

The Packers won the contest by 42-20.

Brett Favre finished the game with 18 completions on 23 attempts for 173 yards and 3 touchdown passes, two of them to wide receiver Greg Jennings. After fumbling the ball twice, Ryan Grant looked forward instead of looking back during the game. The running back showed a lot of speed and intensity, and he finished the game with a total of 201 rushing yards while scoring 3 rushing touchdowns.

The Packers will play the winner of tomorrow's match between the New-York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys. Should the Giants win the game, the NFC championship would be hosted by Green Bay. The Cowboys will host the NFC championship with a victory over the Giants.
