Brandon Meriweather: New England Patriots Safety Present At Shooting
New England Patriots starting safety Brandon Meriweather is to be questioned about a shooting near his hometown of Apopka, Florida.
Meriweather was present at a bar outside of which two men were shot according to the Orange County Sheriff's department spokesman Capt. Angelo Nieves.
Different accounts have varied sides of what occurred, and what Meriweather's role in it were. The lawyer for the two men shot told several media outlets that Meriweather was in fact the shooter. Another relative of Meriweather said that Meriweather was trying to break up a fight that led to the shooting.
Brandon Meriweather's legal guardian, Tim Bridges stated, "It's not true" in regards to the safeties involvement.
With all the confusion going on with the labor negotiations this is not what the league needs in a publicity sense. It is unknown to me, and apparently the parties concerned in the matter what actually happened that night, but the facts will come out eventually.
Meriweather has been a solid player on the field as he has gotten the reputation as a "big hitter" in the league. His physicality goes back to his days at Miami as he was infamously was apart of the disturbing fight against Florida International in 2006.
