Strikeforce Result: Dan Henderson Defeats Rafael "Feijao" Calvacante by Knockout

Strikeforce and Bleacher Report are live from Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH.

Light heavyweight champion, Rafael "Feijao" Calvacante (10-2) made his first title defense against Dan Henderson (26-8).

Henderson came into the bout off an impressive knockout victory over Renato Sobral last December, while Calvacante dethroned former champion Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal last August.


Round 1:

Huge cheers for Hendo from the fans to start the bout and he was clearly the fan-favorite.

Low kicks by Feijao and a big right hand from Hendo, but Feijao returns the favor and sends him to the canvas.

Hendo escapes and puts the champion on his back. Not much offense from Hendo as Feijao is doing a solid job of tying him up.

They're stood up by the referee and Hendo is pressing forward trying to land the big right hand and now they're clinched along the cage with Feijao's back against the fence.

Feijao reverses the position briefly before Hendo get the position back, but they're broken up by the referee as the round comes to a close.


Round 2:

Jabs by Hendo lands and he's pushing forward very aggressively. He throws a big combination that misses and now they're clinched along the cage with Hendo working for the takedown.

Feijao defends well for a few moments, but Hendo lands the takedown and he's working from the half-guard. The champion reverses the position and is now working from Hendo's closed guard.

Not much action from Feijao and they're stood up.

Head kick by Feijao misses and so does a combination. Hendo pushes forward and lands a low kick to the champions lead leg.

Feijao backs up against the cage and the challenger uses it to put Feijao on his back.


Round 3:

Huge low kick by Feijao to kick off the round and Hendo charges forward with a big combination that lands.

They circle and Hendo lands a devastating right hand that sends Feijao crashing to the canvas.

Hendo dives on Feijao and delivers some big follow-up punches to become the new light heavyweight champion.


Result: Dan Henderson defeats Rafael "Feijao" Calvacante to become the new Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion.
