Cam Newton Will Be An NFL Player Next Season, How Much Will He Play?
Cam Newton will be in the NFL next year. There. That is pretty much the extent to the certainties revolving around Newton's impending career.
There is a lot that could happen between now and the time Newton is drafted. Even more is possible in between the time he is drafted and when he laces up the cleats for training. So we cannot say for sure where this young man will go, or if he will start. But we sure can speculate.
Here are the most likely scenarios.
Carolina Panthers - Some speculated that Newton could go as high as number one. He did not help himself at the Combine as he came away with mixed reviews. If he solidifies his status in the next month at pro day workouts, he could be Carolina bound once again.
In Carolina he would get a good amount of minutes. The team was already to hand over the keys to Andrew Luck before he decided to stay at Stanford.
Buffalo Bills - General wisdom has the Bills snatching up Newton at the three spot. This may be the best destination for the young quarterback.
He won't have to start. He can get the necessary grooming while Ryan Fitzpatrick leads the charge. The Bills will give him some snaps here and there, but will slowly bring him along otherwise.
Washington Redskins - If Newton slides, it will not be farther than number 10. The Skins need a quarterback badly. They just ran Donovan McNabb out of town, now all they have is Rex Grossman in the cupboard.
Newton better be ready to suit up full time. That is what the Redskins will be shopping for.
The best scenario for Newton is the Bills. A Redskins uniform has been known to ruin some fairly promising careers.
