The second fight on the UFC facebook of the UFC on Versus 3 card found Steve Cantwell meeting Cyrille Diabaté in a light heavyweight battle

Steve Cantwell came into this fight on a two fight UFC losing streak, while Diabaté came in with a 1-1 UFC record.

Diabaté had a huge height advantage in this bout and used that to his advantage, keeping Cantwell at a distance and landing strikes at will. Cantwell, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt spent the entire three round fight standing in front of Diabaté and allowing the French kickboxer to totally dominate the fight.

Diabaté practically toyed with the Cantwell after hurting him badly at the end of the first round with a knee and an uppercut.

Cantwell never really recovered from the damage and lost the fight by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-25, 30-26)

Diabaté never really went for the finish even when Cantwell was clearly hurt and that may have hurt him in the eyes of the UFC president Dana White.

He explained to Joe Rogan that he was tired from travel and promised he would go for the finish in his next bout.
