The Long and Winding Road : Not all Doom and Gloom for Arsenal Fans

The article title says it all, fans of the Gunners are thrilled one minute and disappointed the next.

The negative press will be out again this week after the Gunners lost 2-1 at home to Hull City yesterday.  Only Arsenals second loss at the Emirates Stadium.

The Arsenal style of play combined with the fact that they are a youngish side means that this sort of result is inevitable sooner or later as players lose concentration or become over confident.

When every single player is on form and the fluid passing and movement is working, there is no better side playing the game anywhere in the world.

Alternatively, if the players get lazy, tired or lose concentration and the fluid passing and movement is not working for them, the shoulders slump a little and bad results are inevitable for this Arsenal side.

Arsene Wenger himself said after the Hull City defeat:

"Maybe it is because human beings are not always machines. We thought subconsciously that we will make it, that’s basically it. But after we were 1-0 up and that’s when we were a bit careless. Instead of pushing on and scoring a second goal, we gave too much room to Hull and in the end we were caught."

This is the second loss for Arsenal in six games already this season and the doom and gloom merchants will be at it again in the media.

But it is not all bad news for Arsenal fans.

Arsenal only trail the leaders by two points which is not an insurmountable target by any means.

If Arsenal stay true to their style of play and the teamwork ethic, the good results will come more and more often.

Until that time, Arsenal fans just need to have faith in their team and their manager and not turn on one or two games.

Granted, Gallas was poor in the corner that led to Hulls second goal, and van Persie along with a few others missed goals they maybe should have scored.

But against Hull it seemed there was a lack of concentration or maybe a belief that they would win before a ball was kicked.

Not to take anything away from a Hull City side that took their chances on goal and defended well from the front.  Geovanni's goal was nothing short of spectacular and the Hull defenders gave nothing away to Adebayor and the Arsenal attack.

Just as Arsenal fans were jubilant midweek after the Arsenal youngsters knocked over Sheffield 6-0, you cannot read too much into one game, be it a win or a loss.

The season is 38 games long and the title will be decided over the course of the 38 games, not in the first 10 games of the season, any Manchester United fan will testify to that....
