Barney Corkhill's Unofficial World Club Championship (UWCC) saw another defence today, as champions Chelsea came up against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium.

Chelsea have made a fantastic start to the season, which meant newly promoted Stoke were huge underdogs.

With Rory Delap's long throws unavailable to them due to a hamstring injury, it was hard to see where Stoke's threat was going to come from.

Chelsea didn't disappoint.

In a typically dominant performance, they ran out 2-0 winners with goals from Jose Bosingwa and Nicolas Anelka. More creative play from Frank Lampard set up Bosingwa's first half goal, his first in a Chelsea shirt.

Then, despite a spirited Stoke resurgence, Nicolas Anelka scored a late goal to ease Chelsea's fears and secure the three points, and the retention of the UWCC for the away team.

Chelsea's next title defence comes on Wednesday when they face CFR Cluj-Napoca away in the Champions League. Can Cluj become the best team in the world?!
