Los Angeles Clippers: Does Eric Gordon Want to Move to San Diego?
Los Angeles Clippers Could Soon Be Competing with Three Teams in LA.
It's bad enough the 21-40 Los Angeles Clippers have to compete with the Lakers in LA in terms of drawing fans.
Now they find themselves faced with the possibility of the Sacramento Kings moving to Anaheim, which has been rumored.
Hearing the news of the day, Clippers guard Eric Gordon seemed to be for the Clippers finding a new home in San Diego.
Via the LA Times:
"I wouldn't mind going down there — to separate ourselves from L.A. from the Lakers," Eric Gordon said. "But it's always good to compete with them."
Now let's break down that statement.
First, "I wouldn't mind going down there to separate ourselves from L.A., from the Lakers."
Sounds like he's all for it, doesn't it?
Bask a little in the sun of Pacific Beach in SD?
Have a cocktail?
Not have to face this guy.
Then he goes on: "But it's always good to compete with them."
Sounds like backtracking, realizing you've uncovered your desire to get the hell out of L.A. and miles and miles away from Jack Nicholson.
And with apologies to Clippers fans and Blake Griffin, you can't suitably compete with the Lakers.
Yes, you beat them back in January.
But so have other bad teams.
It doesn't mean you are in the same world.
And Gordon knows that.
He also knows that San Diegans would probably go bonkers for another chance to host a pro basketball team.
