UFC 127 Results: Post-Fight Reaction to Penn-Fitch Majority Draw
My reaction is this: What a bunch of bulls***.
So let me get this straight, Jon Fitch gets a 10-8 round from two judges—how else do you explain a 28-28 card when it's obvious Jon won the third?—yet Dennis Siver fails to get even a single such score since his unanimous decision came via a score of 29-28, 30-28 and 30-27?
The Menace put Sots on his can twice and had him taking false steps on a third occasion, but apparently that's not as impressive as a takedown and control without danger for five minutes.
Nope, that's not consistent with the mixed martial arts with which so many of us know and love.
Granted, you must give Jon credit and put some blame on Baby J. Fitch was able to render the Hawaiian totally ineffectual in the final round and Penn complied.
Nevertheless, the wrestler deployed his standard game plan that repulses so many fans—take zero chances, score the takedown, make virtually no effort to improve position and just try to outpoint the adversary with shots that score yet do little else.
And for that he gets a 10-8 round that salvages a draw?
That's an embarrassing end to what was an otherwise satisfying evening of fights.
