UFC 127 Results: B.J. Penn and Jon Fitch Fight To a Majority Draw
Fitch came out needing a big third round and started it in that style with a big right hand, though it wasn't quite as big as Rogan tried to sell it. Still, the blow resulted in a takedown for Fitch and some more ground 'n' pound before Baby J was able to kick him off.
The avoidance was short-lived, though, as Jon registered a second easy takedown inside the first 100 seconds of a potentially decisive stanza.
This time, the Prodigy wasn't able to escape as quickly and that gave Fitch ample time to rain elbows and hammerfists into B.J.'s grill. Penn was on the total defensive as the Hawaiian absorbed roughly a billion unanswered short shots from his opponent.
Literally, the final round was about survival for the Hilo Kid as he mustered maybe five or 10 seconds of offense in the entire five minutes.
Clear 10-9 round for Fitch, but let's hope that's the only one he got. I've got Penn, two rounds to one, but it was a nip-tuck affair that could go either way.
Jon Fitch and B.J. Penn fight to a majority draw (29-28, 28-28, 28-28).
