UFC 127: Jon Fitch vs. B.J. Penn, Round 2
Oops, Penn opened the second round a little over eagerly and suffered a takedown because of an ill-conceived flying knee. Luckily, the Hilo Kid was able to escape any real damage and clamber back to his feet while softening Jon up with some more short elbows.
Fitch was like a dog after a bone with his takedown attempts, but Penn defended well and opened up his adversary with one of those savagely abbreviated elbows. Some more efficient work in close culminated in yet another takedown for Baby J.
However, just like in the first round, the legend moved to Fitch's back and eventually lost position as his opponent rolled into the dominant position. The reversal allowed Fitch to close the gap with ground 'n' pound to close the round.
Fortunately for Penn, he was able to regain his feet before the final horn and that probably kept the 10-9 round in B.J.'s corner.
