UFC 127 Results: Dennis Siver Defeats George Sotiropoulos
Siver came out for the final round noticeably slower, but still spry enough to throw of Sots' initial takedown attempt with customary (by now) ease.
Joe Rogan astutely points out that Siver has effectively forced Sotiropoulos to engage in a kickboxing match, which is the German's specialty. Considering that accurate point, George has actually fared surprisingly well. He's gonna have to keep it up to emerge from this bad boy.
And it just wasn't happening.
Though the fan favorite tried to finish off the rally that started with the knockdowns in the first, the Menace wasn't having it. He continued to blister his prey with fiercely accurate combinations, including some digging body shots that even the gas tank equation a bit.
As did a series of leg kicks and a pair of Siver's patented spinning back kicks to the body.
Ultimately, Sotiropoulos showed tremendous heart and tough-as-nails resolve in taking the bout to Siver after the horrendous opening round. But it wasn't enough as a 10-9 third round sews up the matter for the German.
Dennis Siver defeats George Sotiropoulos by unanimous decision (29-28, 30-28, 30-27).
