UFC 127: George Sotiropoulos vs. Dennis Siver, Round 1
Siver never really had a chance to match Sots' entrance, but George totally blew him out of the water by using the legendary Australian rock band AC/DC and one of their best anthems, "TNT." In fact, I can't even remember what the Menace's approach music was and it's something I know/like.
That bodes well for my pick even if only in my mind.
Dennis gets a polite patter of claps rather than the lusty boos I expected; I mean, who passes a chance to boo a German in the villain's role?
Sotiropoulos competes a little like Anderson Silva in he generally takes his time choosing his course of action, but he got off to a quick start against the German-born Russian. The Aussie engaged immediately with his jab and began probing for a takedown window.
it came about two minutes into the first, but the Menace used a jab and impressive balance to stuff the attempt. The good news kept on coming for Dennis as a big left seemed to badly wobble George before a second takedown attempt was stuffed with ease.
Rogan saw Siver "hurt" twice but I can't say I agree.
What is undeniable is that an enormous left hook rocked Sotiropoulos. Even after George got to his feet, he had a ba case of rubber legs and proceeded to eat a couple more nuclear bombs from a patiently rabid Dennis Siver.
The Aussie was game, even landing a few retaliatory salvos as the seconds ticked away, but it was a thrashing with George on the receiving end. At least a 10-9 for Siver, I'd give it to him 10-8.
