Tonya Harding Gives Birth to Her First Child at Age 40, and It's a Boy!

Former figure skating diva-turned-Celebrity Boxer Tonya Harding announced the birth of her first child Friday, after delivering her son last Saturday at an Oregon hospital.

Harding has settled down considerably from the controversial figure we all remember. She's found love, in husband Joseph Price (who hasn't put a hit out on anyone yet, what an improvement!), and has done a good job of staying out of the limelight in recent years.

For those unfamiliar with Harding, allow me to refresh your memory. In 1994, Harding was a full-fledged figure skating star, the first skater to land a triple axel in competition. She and fellow American Nancy Kerrigan were favored to take home medals at the '94 Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway.

But then, a fateful decision changed everything. Harding and ex-fiancee Jeff Gillooly agreed to take a hit out on Kerrigan, not to kill her, but to injure her so badly that she couldn't compete in the Olympics. So, they hired Shane Slant to do the deed, which he attempted to complete.

But while Stant managed to hurt her knee (a deep bone bruise, nothing broken or torn), he also boosted her national profile and made her a sympathetic figure.

He also made Harding the villain of the 1994 Games, the woman who'd literally tried to take out her competition. After finishing eighth in those games, things quickly spiralled out of control for Tonya.

She was in and out of tumultuous relationships, appeared on FOX's Celebrity Boxing, and gave the world a sex tape no one wanted to see.

Fortunately, she's mellowed in recent years, and hopefully, she and Price will continue to stay away from metal pipes and live happily with their newborn son.
