According to pittsburghpenguins.com, the Penguins have acquired Ottawa Senator Alex Kovalev for a conditional seventh round draft pick.
The pick will move up to a sixth round draft pick if the Pens win the first round of the playoffs and Kovalev plays in 50 percent of first round games.
Kovalev ranked fourth on Ottawa's team with 27 points in 54 games. In the previous 10 games he's had six goals and nine points. He played parts of five seasons with the Pens between 1998 and 2003.
In 345 games with the Penguins, the forward earned 149 goals, 198 assists and 347 points—in addition to 11 goals and 28 points in 39 postseason games.
In addition to the Penguins, Kovalev has played for the New York Rangers, the Ottawa Senators and the Montreal Canadiens. He has collected 1,017 points in 1,282 career games, including 426 regular season goals.
The Penguins also traded Alex Goligoski to the Dallas Stars for James Neal and Matt Niskanen earlier in the week.
The Penguins play the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday at 7:00EST.
