NHL, NHL Southeast, Atlanta Thrashers, Ilya Kovalchuk

Why can't Ilya Kovalchuk be captain of the Atlanta Thrashers?

I mean, he was the first overall pick in 2001.

And besides, he won the Rocket Richard trophy with Iginla and Nash.

He's going to win another Rocket Richard trophy this year.

Why don't the Thrashers make Kovi captain already?

I think not making Kovalchuk captain is a slap in the face. Doesn't he have good leadership skills?

And this is coming from a Canucks fan.
