WWE News: Backstage News on the Feud Brewing Between The Rock and John Cena
The Rock vs. John Cena Not On WWE's Menu
The Rock vs. John Cena. The People's Champ vs. The Champ.
It's a dream match that millions of wrestling fans would love to see. But as of right now, that's all it is: a dream.
Despite the ongoing war of words between The Rock and Cena, f4wonline.com is reporting that there are no plans for The Rock to wrestle another match at all, including a much-hyped bout with Cena.
WWE officials are, however, leaving the door open for a possible match down the road—maybe in Miami (Rock's hometown) at Wrestlemania 28—that hinges on The Rock's willingness to participate. And it's said that The Rock likely will get physically involved in some capacity at Wrestlemania 27.
To be honest, this shouldn't really come as much of a surprise, as The Rock has indicated that he would never wrestle again and The Miz/Cena match has been planned for months now.
But that being said, WWE officials should go all out in their attempts to get one last epic match out of The Rock.
With so many big-named stars leaving and WWE moving ahead with its youth movement, the truth is that there aren't many big-time, money matches left with the way the company is currently structured.
By the time Wrestlemania 28 rolls around, Triple H could be gone and so could Rey Mysterio (and some others), so WWE will undoubtedly be looking for a mega-draw of a match for next year's show.
Extremely lengthy feuds are a lost art in WWE these days, but this Rock/Cena thing seems to be going in that direction.
Though it'll be hard to conduct without The Rock under a full-time contract, this is one of those year-plus feuds that could pay huge dividends as far as TV ratings and PPV buys are concerned.
If WWE can't get The Rock to wrestle this year—which they won't—they should try like hell to get him for Wrestlemania 28.
