Troy Escalade Jackson: Mark Jackson's Brother Dies During All-Star Weekend
Troy Escalade Jackson, the Brother of ESPN Analyst Mark Jackson, Dies in His Sleep at the Age of 35.
Troy "Escalade" Jackson, the younger brother of ESPN analyst Mark Jackson and famous streetballer, died in his sleep early Sunday morning while in Los Angeles for NBA All-Star Weekend.
Jackson, who played for Louisville from 1996-1998, joined the And 1 Mixtape Tour in 2002 and never looked back, continuing with the Harlem Globetrotters, and, most recently, the Ball Up streetball team.
Former LA Lakers Rick Fox and Shaquille O'Neal tweeted their condolences after the news broke.
“My heart goes out to Mark Jackson and his family who lost his brother last night, Escalade. We lost a great person love u escalade. I’m sad,” O’Neal tweeted.
The New York Times caught up with Mark Jackson following his brother's tragic death:
"He traveled all around the world and touched so many lives," Mark Jackson told The Post from LA. "He will be greatly missed. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. God is still good."
Troy Jackson, listed at 6-foot-10, 400 pounds, was one of streetball's well-known names.
In 2005, Jackson appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated, noted as a "streetball legend."
His cause of death is currently unknown.
Shout out to Escalade, a "gentle giant" who will surely be missed.
