Anaheim Ducks Destroy Toronto Maple Leafs

The Anaheim Ducks demonstrated the differences between themselves and the Toronto Maple Leafs last night, dismantling them in a 5-0 shutout win.

The Ducks, blessed with terrific young talent and rock-solid defence, got a goal and two assists from Corey Perry and veteran Todd Bertuzzi.

The other member of that line, power forward Ryan Getzlaf, chipped in with two helpers as well.

Goalie John Sesbatian Giguere stopped all 28 shots for his second goose-egg of the season.

The Leafs, meanwhile, are showing their age and lost for the third time in a row.  Netminder Vesa Toskala made 19 saves after missing the past six games with a groin injury. He looked rusty, and didn't get much help from his beleaguered mates.

Toronto, who began a three-game western swing last night, saw its woeful powerplay go a dreadful 0-for-7.  It currently ranks 27th in the NHL.
