From Stephanie, over at Steel City Sports Fan, is where I first heard the best news I've heard all week. The Trib-Review later confirmed the reports.The Penguins have gone through the second series of roster cuts, and Kris Beech is being shipped back to the AHL.

Yes, there is a God, and if he isn't chilling on his couch in Sewickley, dominating some golf balls across a fairway, or walking down the greatest street in the city of Pittsburgh, which was so aptly named after himself, he is surely doing the right thing for the Pens.

Here are the players shipped back to the minors today:


Kris Beech, Ryan Stone, Adam Henrich, Aaron Boogaard, Tim Wallace, Jonathan Filewich, David Gove, Chris Minard, Deryk Engelland, T.J. Kemp, Ben Lovejoy, Joey Mormina and goaltender David Brown.

John Curry had a solid outing in goal when he came into the game in relief of Sabou last night in Tampa Gay. It seems that his ride isn't over quite yet. Could Curry have an outside shot of beating out Dany "I want to be somebody's Fleury" Sabourin for the backup goalie spot? Probably not. But, if Sabou falters, we could be seeing some more of Curry before the season is over.

"Put me in, coach"

Of all the players headed back to the minors, I am most disappointed to see Lovejoy go. He had an extremely surprising training camp (surprising in a good way) and looked at times like a sure-fire NHL defenseman. Another season of AHL grooming probably won't hurt, but Lovejoy is a name we should be hearing plenty of around the AHL this winter.

With a name like Lovejoy, you gotta wonder if it's possible for him to ever get upset about anything?
