The NBA Slam Dunk Contest this year has generated a huge amount of buzz, what with everyone's new favorite dunker Blake Griffin being involved in the festivities.
In the past decade, the dunk contest lost much of its luster, began to rust, and in the past few years start to become more polished with the competition between Nate Robinson and Dwight Howard.
This year's contest features an array of different dunking styles, with Griffin, JaVale McGee, Serge Ibaka and DeMar DeRozan.
While this is certainly not the all-star lineup of old, with Michael Jordan facing off against Dominique Wilkins facing off back in 1985, it is certainly nothing to scoff at. Oh that 1985 contest, and they had a little guy named Clyde Drexler and the Doctor of Dunk himself, Julius Erving sprinkled in just for good measure.
This year's contest features different styles of dunkers that is sure to create an awesome variety of dunks that will bring you to your feet whether you are in the arena or sitting on your couch.
So keep an eye here over the next few days, as I'll be adding updates on each dunk contestant, dishing out some knowledge about the past dunk contests and giving some immediate reaction as the contest takes place on Saturday night.
