MWC Mens Hoops: Smith and Ogide Lead Rams Past Green and The Horned Frogs

Andy Ogide and Greg Smith combined for 39 points as the CSU Rams 18-7 (8-3) defeated the TCU Horned Frogs 10-18 (1-12), 69-55. The Rams overcame poor three-point shooting (4-17) and 19 turnovers to solidify third place in the MWC.

Greg Smith, who has averaged 11 points in his last six games, had his second career double-double, scoring 19 and collecting 10 rebounds. Pierce Hornung cleaned up the boards, collecting 13 rebounds in 21 minutes of action.

Nikola Cerina led the Horned Frogs with 12 points, seven rebounds and five steals. The Horned Frogs have struggled in conference play—their only win came against Wyoming, who have also struggled this season.

This game was key for the Rams, who have five games remaining, including two very tough road games at BYU and SDSU.

The other three games, UNLV, at Air Force and home for Utah, will be key for the Rams if they want the voters to give them an at-large bid (barring of course the Rams winning the MWC conference tournament).
