Yes, I know: the Pats are the best team ever. They are unstoppable. You can say tons of great and true things about Brady's team—but let us remember that there is a team that always puts up a good fight against the Pats.
Indeed, I am talking about the reigning champions of the NFL: The Indianapolis Colts.
The Colts are playing the Chargers this week, a team who had difficulties beating the Titans at home. This should be an easy one for Tony Dungy's team.
This is a team that improved a lot from last season to this one—as hard as is to believe, last year they were the worst defense against the run, allowing 173 ypg. Can you believe they won the Super Bowl?
Now, with the defensive player of the year Bob Sanders aboard, these 2007 Colts have something they didn't have last season: an ability to stop the run. The were ranked #1 in overall defense this season.

Obviously we know about the explosive and smart offense that Peytonn Manning runs here—he yet again put up +4000 yds and +30 TDs, and that without their star reciever and Manning's favorite target Marvin Harrison, who is expected to be back for the playoffs.
However it honestly seemed like there were five Marvins on the field for the Colts this year, between pro-bowl reciever Reggie Wayne, tight end Dallas Clark, reciever Anthony Gonzalez, and runningback Joseph Addai.
I mean, I could go on and on about these recievers—but the point is: imagine all of these guys plus marvin Harrison. That is going to be a fun-to-watch offense.
If the Colts play the Patriots (and I think they'll play), the Colts are going to spread the recievers just like the Pats do, and I think they'll be as effective as Brady's five WR set—because let's face it, the Pats' CBs won't match the Colts' WR. The Colts also have a guy called Joseph Addai in the back field, and if the Indy offensive line can push and beat the New England d-Line, Addai will be able to run it on them all day long.
The Colts also have a great set of DBs, and even though they are not the best in the league, they'll play the Pats in their usual cover 2 defense and will play them close. Not to suggest that these Pats wide recievers aren't a threat, because they have proven it each and every week of the season—but the Colts' DBs will keep this close and physical.
The difficult side of this for the Colts is that they are playing in Foxborough, and man is that a tough stadium to lay in. Brady is just as good in the cold as in warmer climates, but Manning is getting used to this, so I think they will go to New England and beat them in a close one.
From there I think it's an easy run for the Lombardi trophy, because I really don't believe that the Cowboys or Packers or whomever they play have it in them to beat these red hot Colts.
Because after beating the Pats, who isn't red hot?

What a wonderfull, rich and entertaining article by such a young and talented writer! However, I don't fully agree with Gabriel's views on the Colts. Actualy, as a long time Chargers fan, I truly believe that Norv Turner will get us past the Colts to try our luck with the pats. Anyways, great reading...

well written but purely fiction .in my opinion i don't see the colt's getting past the Pat's .i will take nothing away from manning but the Pat's are to tough this year

New England will be tough to beat. If there is any team that can beat them, though it would be the Colts.

i know it sounds crazy :" the pats don't win" but i believe that the complete colts offense can beat the pats defense... i am not taking away any credit to brady's offense but it's on the other side of the football that the colts will take advantage...
