Remember when all the mainstream hockey writers said this would be a relatively quiet trade deadline?
Apparently general managers across the league either haven't gotten the message or all the writers meant the big trades would be done before the deadline. Already a couple of deals involving hot names have been shipped off, with the latest being Chris Kelly heading to Boston for a second round pick.
Of course, we've seen trades happen before the deadline but this might be a first in terms of teams perhaps making pre-emptive strikes before the actual trade deadline February 28. Of course, what makes this all the stranger is that in Gary Bettman's NHL dream world that he's created here, a few of these teams selling are still somehow in the Playoff race.
So what we really have instead of true buyers and sellers, are buyers and a bunch of teams stuck somewhere in the middle that aren't in the Playoffs right now but aren't out of it yet, so they have to decide whether they rebuild or take a run at a Playoff berth.
But nevertheless, this is the place for all the latest NHL trade news. From rumored deals to more on the Chris Kelly trade and whether a certain Toronto defenseman could possibly be the next to go, this is your one-stop shop for all the latest news.
