Welcome to "The Captain's Count."
My name is Captain Chrismo and I'm ready to deliver my insights to the world of professional wrestling. I'm honored to be selected as a Bleacher Report writer and look forward to sharing my thoughts with you.
Last night, the WWE Universe was completely stunned by the return of the iconic Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Having grown up during the "Attitude Era," I have to admit that The Rock's return to Raw was one of the most nostalgic moments I have felt in a long time.
As he delivered a lengthy promo (that somewhat chastised the current state of the WWE roster), The Rock instilled hope for the upcoming WrestleMania.
Let's face it—WrestleMania 27 wasn't shaping up to be the spectacle it deserves to be. With The Rock's return, it gave it a much needed boost in the right direction.
I now have hope that the next few weeks will steadily build up one of the most anticipated events in sports entertainment history.
Perhaps the strongest point that needs to be touched on is, to what degree will The Rock’s involvement shape the main event scene?
With a huge return anticipated for next week that will likely take part in the main event lineup, The Rock may have added yet another angle that will culminate on April 3.
As the Raw GM sounded off (and was immediately ignored) last night, one can only speculate as to what the message stated.
It is my belief that the GM was to solidify The Rock’s involvement in the WWE Title match at WrestleMania.
Laying seeds for potential confrontations with both frontrunners for the title match, we may see The Rock officiate the match between WWE Champion The Miz and the number one contender, John Cena.
Next week, I expect both wrestlers to follow up The Rock’s comments.
While The Miz may take an apprehensive approach, I believe John Cena may brush the comments aside, perhaps to primarily focus on the WWE Championship.
The story will be different, however, when all three men meet in the ring at WrestleMania.
Depending on the path WWE creative takes with this story, both Cena and Miz could become immortalized in one of the most memorable main events in recent history.
While I am unsure as to how long The Rock will remain within the WWE, one thing is certain—the WWE has to capitalize on this excitement in order to make WrestleMania 27 a success.
On that note, I want to thank you for reading the initial article of “The Captain’s Count.” Look for my next article on March 1.
