Clay Matthews Posts Shaved Head Pictures on Twitter; Did Packers LB Really Do It?

Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews sent shockwaves rippling across the sports world today when the hulking linebacker with the flowing golden locks posted pictures of a decidedly shiny bald head on Twitter earlier today.

"Just got my Britney Spears on... what do u think???" the Packer with the most recognizable hair asked his followers on the social media site.

Matthews' hair made him the figurehead for the Packers' staunch defense and saw his locks match Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu in terms of fame.

If he has truly joined the chrome-dome ranks, Matthews has lost one of the signature looks in the NFL, along with Polamalu's tribal 'do, Brett Keisel's beard and Jim McMahon's sunglasses back in the day.

The loss of a signature feature isn't uncommon in sports, and in many cases, it's inevitable. Johnny Damon lost his "Captain Caveman" hair and beard, "Refrigerator" Perry lost his gap-toothed grin, and Jaromir Jagr and Randy Johnson both cut their epic mullets.

But that doesn't make it any easier to take when it happens. The sports world gets a little bit darker, a little more boring until the next unique look is found.

So, did Matthews really do it?

I don't know, you tell me
