UPDATE!

The reports by the National Enquirer (link below) are false. OJ Simpson was not attacked in his prison.

The Nevada Department of Corrections has denied the reports of Simpson being beaten up in his prison.

Who's to Blame in the OJ Simpson Prison Beating?

According the National Enquirer  OJ Simpson was beaten unconscious at the Nevada's Lovelock Correctional Center. Simpson is serving nine years there for an armed confrontation with sports memorabilia dealers in Las Vegas. He was admitted to prison in 2007.

The prison has tried to keep it a secret but some reporters did a solid job of digging and released the story. Simpson was apparently bragging about sexual relations with white women and a skinhead attacked him.

The reports say he fell into a deep depression and was afraid to leave his cell for three weeks. The 63-year old former athlete was embarrassed he got his butt kicked.

I'm not saying Simpson deserved this beating, but it's partly his fault. He should not have been boasting about his sexual encounters with women. Prison is full of crazies, he should know better.

Simpson has lived off his celebrity status for so long now. Up until the Vegas incident he never had to pay any consequences for his actions. Now he's in prison and subject to prison lifestyle.

Do not feel bad for this man simply because he was once a famous athlete. Feel bad that he was attacked because of his race. It's terrible that race was the deciding factor in this incident.

Our society should move on from the race issues it has. We are making progress every day to accept others for who they are and not based on their skin color. However, in prison, all bets are off. There's no controlling the men and women in there. You can't expect them to act civil, behave, and respect others. It's prison.

To some extent it is Simpson's fault he was attacked. I'm sure he has learned his lesson to keep his mouth shut and just be another prisoner. The blame can also be placed on prison. There's fighting all the time in prison, it just never makes the news.
