Did Ozzie Make a Mistake, Calling Out Pitcher?
Yesterday Chicago White Sox Manager, Ozzie Guillen, said starting pitcher Javier Vazquez is anything but clutch. He said he was worried about having Vazquez start such a big game, when he has never pitched well in big games.
Vazquez said Guillen's comments didn't affect him at all. He also said that he wasn't out there to change peoples' mind and he would just pitch his game. You can say it didn't matter, but you always will have to look back at it after what happened tonight.
Vazquez was slated to pitch the first game in the big series verses the Minnesota Twins. Both fighting for the A.L. Central The Twins were only 2.5 out prior to the game.
Vazquez proved Ozzie Guillen was right after he got rocked for five runs in four innings verse the Twins tonight. Jason Kubel homered twice and Delmon Young once for the Twins. The Twins went on to win 9-3 with a strong performance from Scott Baker.
The Twins closed to gap to 1 1/2 games after the win. Ozzie Guillen has always been a controversial manager and he just helped his case for being the most controversial manger ever.
