Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Silva Final Thoughts on Silva's Upset of Fedor, Main Card
It's odd to say this considering all five of the main card bouts and nine of the 10 overall contests ended in stoppages, but I'm strangely unsatisfied by the action.
It was definitely exciting, there's no denying that.
But the main card was severely one-sided and the three reserve fights had a decidedly amateur-ish feel.
Ray Sefo and Valentijn Overreem were great while standing, but Sugar Ray submitted to a neck crank (enough said). Chad Griggs and Gianpiero Villante could've been in a street outside a bar while Lavar Johnson and Shane del Rosario started well, but Big Johnson petered out pretty quickly.
Sergei Kharitonov and Andrei Arlovski put on an excellent if abbreviated and unsurprising affair, but even Antonio Silva's victory over Fedor Emelianenko gave off an expired odor.
Of course, there are a lot worse things to be called than thoroughly entertaining, and the evening answered to that name from where I sit.
Hope you agree.
